Vita

Markus J. Seewald received his doctoral degrees and his scientific training in human nutrition and theoretical medicine from the Technical University of Munich and the Mayo-Medical-School, Rochester MN, USA. In 1989 and 1990 he was awarded twice by the American Association For Cancer Research for his basic research in cell-physiology and pharmacology.
In 1995 he was habilitated at the Technical University of Munich for Physiology. Since 1993 he is holding the professorship of Human Nutrition and Nutritional Medicine at Anhalt University, University of Applied Sciences, Bernburg Germany. From 1994 to 2003 he was Vice-president for research at Anhalt University.

Research

His main research interests are the overlapping feelds of nutrition and medicine e.g. the practical development of functional food products and clinical testing. He is holding international patents in the area of the developments of Functional Food products. M.J. Seewald is a member of the advisor board for health affairs, Ministry of Health Sachsen-Anhalt and the advisor board for food industry, Ministry of Economy Sachsen-Anhalt.
He is also scientific advisor of the Middle German Food Network and is chairing the section Functional Food.
Markus J. Seewald is a Guest Professor of the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis/ St. Paul, the University of Namibia, Windhoek and the Gono Bishwabidyalay University, Dhakar, Bangladesh.
