What is a university entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung, HZB)?

Your HZB is your secondary school certificate or university studies that you have started or completed. If you would like to study at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, you will need to show proof of a HZB. Usually, the university entrance qualification is a German Abitur, but under certain conditions a foreign university entrance qualification can fulfill the requirements to allow you to study in Germany.

Do I have a university entrance qualification (HZB)?

The Central Office for Foreign Education (ZaB) of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Countries in the Federal Republic of Germany (KMK) determines how exactly foreign certificates are to be assessed.

On the DAAD website or at anabin.de you will find detailed information on the individual countries, including information on the official status of your university entrance qualification.

The service center for interational study application uni-assist e.V. verifies your university entrance qualification as well as language requirements for the chosen degree programme at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences.

Should your foreign university entrance qualification correspond with a German entrance qualification, a so-called HZB, you may apply directly via uni-assist to study at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences.

I do not have an HZB

Should you not be in possession of a sufficient German university entrance qualification (HZB), you are required to pass an "assessment test" first. The test consists of a German language proficiency test as well as examinations in 3-4 subjects relevant to your intended course of study. You may prepare for this test in a one-year course at our preparatory college (Studienkolleg).
