The Cape Peninsula University of Technology has humble beginnings when the Cape Technikon and Peninsula Technikon merged – these institutions dating back to the early 1900’s. This merger was part of a national transformation process that transformed the higher education landscape in South Africa.Today, this internationally acclaimed institution is the only University of Technology in the Western Cape and is the largest university in the region, boasting more than 30 000 students, several campuses and service points and more than 70 programmes.

important info:

  1. Tuition fees are waivered.
  2. CPUT does not provide residence accommodation (at no cost)
  3. for exchange students; but we provide assistance in finding suitable accommodation within close proximity to Campus.
  4. CPUT requires South African medical insurance.
  5. Students are required to select courses for which they require credits for.
  6. Students are required to select semester levels similar to their home university.
  7. Students should not pay the ZAR100.00 application fee linked to the attached application form. These fees are waived for exchange students.
  8. Students should send their applications to myself (Ms Nicole Umwizerwa) via e-mail: UmwizerwaN@cput.ac.za. It is not necessary for exchange students to send their applications to the address on the application form.

Orientation week:With the aim of providing all incoming international exchange students with unique experiences while studying at CPUT, we have put together a comprehensive orientation and cultural tours programme which will ensure that the exchange students get the benefits of living in one of the world’s top tourist destination. To support this initiative, please be advised that all international exchange students will be required to contribute towards the costs of this comprehensive orientation and cultural tours programme arranged by international exchange office with an amount of 250 Euro per student, payable once at CPUT.
