Our services

  • Registration

    The Anhalt University Library is a scientific, public library that provides literature and information to university members as well as interested citizen.
    In order to borrow media, please register and agree to our rules and regulations.

    You can register at your library with your student/employee ID card, your ID card or your passport. You can fill out the Registration Form at your local library or download it in advance and fill it out online.

    Please note that by registering you agree to the use of your personal data by the university library in accordance with §9 paragraph 3 of the DSG-LSA.

  • Library Account

    You can find an overview of your borrowed media in the user account. From here, you can also easily renew and reserve media online. You can access your personal account via the Discovery-Service or the UniNow-App (Playstore & App-Store) of the university library.

     

    Login

    You can find your user number on your student ID card (e.g. 33291234567). Your password initially consists of the first three letters of your last name.

    You can change the password at any time in the user account.

  • Lending & Ordering Media

    Books and data carriers are available for loan to registered users, unless the media are marked as reference stock.

    You will find most media arranged according to the thematic classification and signature in the open access areas of the libraries. If you search for literature in our Discovery-Service, you will find more information about the location and the borrowability of the specific item in the detailed display for the particular search result.

    Please pre-order the following media from us in person/by phone/by email or via our contact form:

    • Printed theses and those on CD
    • Periodicals of previous years
    • Media with the addition "SR" ("Schriftenreihe") at the beginning of the signature

    They are magazine stock, which our staff will have ready for you to pick up at the counter as soon as possible.

     

                                                                   

  • Renew & Reserve Literature

    Renew literature

    The loan period for printed media is 28 days and can be extended online in your user account up to 8 times, unless there is a reservation. You can renew your books online in your library account via our Discovery-Service or the UniNow-App (Playstore & App-Store).

    Please note: You cannot renew media if

    • you have already exceeded the loan period
    • you have already renewed 8 times
    • the medium is reserved

     

    Reserve literature

     

    You can easily reserve borrowed media in your user account (access via Discovery-Service) or the library app (Playstore & iTunes).

    You will need your library user number and password. Reserved media can not be renewed. We will notify you as soon as the reserved item is available

  • Deadlines & Overdue Fines

    After the loan period has expired, the following fees are due in accordance with the Regulations on the Collection of Fees for University Libraries:


    • 1st dunning: 2.00 € (per item)
    • 2nd dunning: 5.00 € (plus 1st reminder)
    • 3rd dunning: 10.00 € (plus 1st and 2nd reminder)

    The dunning level increases after 14 days.

  • Remote Access

    To access our digital services outside the campus you may authenticate for the campus network via your PC / browser settings. Please follow the instructions for Remote Access.

  • Guided Tours & Training

    You are invited to take a tour to learn about our libraries, collections and services.

    Please make an appointment!   

    We train information and research skills in face-to-face courses or online courses, primarily for students and employees. The topics range from research in our literature search engine to subject databases and the use of literature management programs.

    Our new, regularly scheduled online courses offer an in-depth look at services and research options in the library. In three main topics of 60 minutes each, we offer you the opportunity to expand your knowledge of literature research and management. Click here to register!

     

     

  • eTutorials

    With our eTutorials, you can also get information from home at any time - for example, on how to renew media in your user account or set up remote access. For the first steps in literature research in our Discovery-Service, please click here.

     

     

  • Print, Copy, Scan

    You will find multifunction devices for printing, copying and scanning in the libraries.
    For printing you need a USB stick with your files in PDF format.
    To print from mobile devices a cable is needed.

    Payment is made via the coin slot on the device.
    Please note that the devices do not give change.

    A4, b/w: 0,05 €
    A4, colored: 0,10 €
    A3, b/w: 0,10 €
    A3, colored: 0,20 €

    Scanning is free of charge and requires only a USB stick.
    You can also use our book scanners for this purpose.

    Please observe the copyright regulations when copying and scanning.

  • Reserve a Study Place

    We provide you with the opportunity to reserve your own learning spaces: Choose between individual or group workstations with or without PC in different rooms of your library in Bernburg, Dessau or Köthen.

  • Inter Library Loan

    As a registered user of the University Library, you are entitled to participate in the interlibrary loan service of the Common Library Network. Here you can order books and journal articles that are not in the holdings of the University Library.

    Interlibrary loan

    Costs: 1,50 € per book or article (up to 21 pages)
    Delivery time: 3-4 weeks
    Loan period: usually 4 weeks
    Extensions: usually not possible

    Interlibrary loans are not sent to the ordering party. Items are picked up at the respective library location. Collection via the service boxes is possible on request.

  • University Library App

    You can use the library app to search our OPAC, reserve and renew media, and receive reminders for your returns.

    The access data consists of the library number and the first three letters of the family name (written in lower case).

    Please visit your App- or Playstore and search for "Bibliothek Hochschule Anhalt"!

    Account-Updates and Reminders

    Android: reminders are done via push messages just before the return expires.
    You can activate reminders within the app via the Settings button. The program running in the background compares the return dates with the reminder setting(s) and informs you in time.

    iOs: the reminder appointments are added to the calendar.
    This requires that the app is allowed to access the calendar, under the settings for the app the access to the calendar must be allowed and the calendar with name "Library" must be activated.

  • Service for Distance Students

    In order to take full advantage of the many services offered by the library, have your student card activated as a user ID. To do this, you can send us a completed registration form and a copy of your student ID by e-mail.

    As a distance learning student, you also have the option of pre-ordering urgently needed literature at your location after registration. To do so, please use our contact form or contact us by phone or e-mail. We will then deposit the desired available titles for you to pick up. If you would like to pick up the media on the weekend, we can arrange a pickup via our media box.

    The Remote Access to our digital resources is the basis for your distance learning. Most of the digital resources that we provide are accessible after a small configuration for the Remote Access and authentication with your student data.

  • De-registration

    For your de-registration you need the de-registration application confirmed by the library with your discharge. We will check your borrowing account for open loans or charges.

    You may forward the signed application to your respective site library in person or as an email attachment:

    If you remain in the area, you are welcome to continue using the libraries as an individual user.

    If your account is inactive for more than 3 years, it will be automatically deleted.
