Christoph Kohl

Christoph Kohl was born in Bolzano, Italy and has studied architecture at the Technical Universities of Innsbruck and Vienna. He completed his academic studies in 1988 with a dott. arch. laureate at IUAV, the Faculty for Architecture in Venice. From 1989 to 2009, I worked in an office partnership with Rob Krier.

In 25 years of independent professional experience, he has actively experienced and practised the transformation of the architectural profession from the analogue to the digital age, from tracing paper and Rapidograph pens, right up to BIM and 3D printing. Progress is essential but it is the lessons of the past that drives his curiosity about the future ‒ tradition being the mainspring of innovation.

He is an avid long-distance athlete with a passion for telemark skiing and misses the majestic mountains of his South Tyrolean home when in Berlin.

One thing you should know about him is that he is interested in etymology and therefore enjoys playing with words, so don't be surprised if he suddenly craics a corny joke from time to time.
