After admission

• What are the first steps after admission?
  • Download your admission letter from our registration portal
  • Inform us if you need the original admission letter (we can send it only by airmail without tracking proof)
  • Start Visa process in your home country
  • Prepare blocked bank account
  • Perhaps you want a travel insurance (only for your travel!)
  • If you want to accept the study position, please confirm your admission to Anhalt University and apply for enrolment in our registration system
  • Semester contribution (please look at the hints for incomers)
  • Try to get in contact with our senior students using social media communities (unfortunately we - Anhalt University- cannot provide you with contact information)

  VERY IMPORTANT: You have to search and apply for an accommodation as soon as possible. The housing situation is extremely difficult in Köthen. We cannot help you with this. Please apply for a room immediately. One option is student dormitories - check the Links section.

Hints for incomers

• Start your study at Anhalt University

  Please inform us if and when you want to start with our program. It would be nice to get an update about your process (visa, accommodation, arrival in Köthen) from time to time.

  Students who enrolled for Winter term 2023 or later have to pay 1160,-€ semester fees and 96,-€ semester contribution

  All semester contribution and/or semester fees have to be transferred in one amount to the following account.
  
  If you enroll for the master program please follow the instructions at the “request for enrollment” document at the application portal.

  If you want to re-register please follow the instructions at the HIS-QIS Examination Portal or SSC Student Portal

  HINT: Banks usually charge for transfer of funds and often subtract those fees from the amount you are transferring. You need to make sure that your bank will transfer the whole amount of Euro to the university account. Only then you will be able to get registered.
  
  
  German public health insurance

  It's necessary to have it, but it's difficult to get from your home country. Don't worry about it. That's why we help you in this case AFTER YOUR ARRIVING in Köthen to sign up for the public health insurance and to get the certificate for enrolment in our program.

  As requested by law, it is mandatory to have a German public health insurance for students under the age of 30. A travel insurance or a private insurance will be not excepted for registration at a German University. Please don’t get insured in your home country since this could cause serious problems here in Germany.

  Please take care, that we can not help you to come to Köthen.

  You will arrive at an (international) airport and need a train connection to Köthen Hauptbahnhof.

  Maybe you can come in contact with senior students of our program. They might be able to help you and give hints for your arrival. Sometimes they also pick up our new incomers at the train station in Köthen.

Money

• All about money

  Beside the semester contribution you will need about 934 Euro to cover your monthly expenses.
  Once in Köthen, you will have to apply for a student residence permit with the local Foreigners’ Office  (Ausländerbehörde).

  It will be mandatory that you show a proof of financial funds of 934 Euro per month for the whole duration of your visa (normally a year) of your stay with your application for a student residence permit.

  For a one-year residence permit this adds up to 11208 Euro. You have to deposit this amount in a blocked account on your name at a German bank. You are only allowed to withdraw a maximum of 934 Euro per month from this account. The amount might change over the time.

  For additional information: Anhalt university has no semester transportation tickets, you need to calculate your travel cost as well if you chose to stay in other cities near Köthen.
