Climate adaptation: solutions from research
How can climate adaptation succeed? We provide answers from applied research on the ClimateBlog of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. It deals with pressing issues: avoiding greenhouse gases, conserving resources, protecting habitats and preserving species.
We share our knowledge with everyone who is looking for practical solutions - for people in politics, administration and the media as well as for everyone who wants to understand how scientifically sound approaches work in everyday life.

Current topics on climate adaptation and climate protection
Climate adaptation in seven departments
Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is researching key ideas for climate adaptation and therefore also climate protection. The focus is on how research can be put into practice. Examples from seven departments:
- Biotechnology: Algae provide raw materials for medicines, food, plastics or fuels - a contribution to climate-friendly production.
- Nature conservation: Digital strategies and more habitats for biodiversity make ecosystems more resilient to climate impacts.
- Energy: More efficient photovoltaic systems and hydrogen strengthen a sustainable energy supply.
- Mobility and logistics: data and automation open up new concepts for rural areas and industry.
- Food technology: researchers are developing resource-saving products - from meat alternatives to better use of by-products and residual streams.
- Agriculture and nutrition: Plant protection, plant research and new technologies support adaptable agriculture.
- Construction and design: Sustainable approaches bring new ideas for architecture, construction, mechanical engineering and design.
Focus on practice
In Anhalt University's research projects, scientists examine whether new approaches exist in everyday life: in the field, in a company or in nature. They investigate whether processes are ecologically sound, economically viable and socially acceptable.
Our blog posts show where we actually stand in this transformation: in project reports, with the voices of experts and background information.
Local climate adaptation - global significance
Many of our projects are rooted in the region. They show how climate adaptation can be achieved locally. These local solutions show what needs to be done in the face of the global climate crisis. They serve as role models and encourage transformation.
