Details about the Basic Level Course
The training phase at Anhalt University, which started on September 15, 2022, with the first wave, will continue this year as well. You can independently enroll in the Basic Level Course at any time using the key mentioned on our website under Training Implementation.
The training consists of an online course, a workshop, and the sending of phishing simulations. If you want to learn more about phishing simulations, please refer to the section: Phishing Training.
Once you have enrolled in the online course, the corresponding modules will be available for you to complete on the learning management platform Moodle. Start with the introduction to the course and complete the information security components through module tests. You will encounter a variety of interactive elements designed to encourage active engagement with the content.
After successfully completing the online course and the subsequent workshop, you have the opportunity to download your individual certificate through the Moodle learning management system.
Completing the online course depends on your prior knowledge and is considered work time. You can allocate your learning times at your convenience and have 4 weeks to finish the course. After completing the course, register for an interactive workshop that includes group tasks and case discussions, which will take approximately 90 minutes.
You will receive information on the basic concepts of information security, setting up and using secure passwords, and safe practices for email, browsers, and cloud services. Other sections cover handling private and professional data and responding to a security incident.
The course consists of an e-learning module of approximately one hour and provides an overview and usage guidelines for the most important digital systems at Anhalt University.
This includes, among other things:
- Usage and potential risks of email and external devices
- Access permissions
- Behavior guidelines during a security incident
The prerequisite for participating in the Basic Course on Information Security is a confident handling of the PC. To complete the online course, you need access to Moodle (https://moodle.hs-anhalt.de/). The login credentials are the same as those for your university emails. For the (online) workshop, you will need a camera and microphone (built-in on your laptop or external) and it will be conducted via the university-hosted conference software Webex.
The knowledge gained during the training is applied in recurring phishing simulations. These are phishing emails designed by us to try and lure you to fake websites. You will receive these emails sporadically in your university inbox.
If you do not recognize the phishing email and click on a link, you will simply be directed to a page that highlights indicators of a fake email. Your behavior remains anonymous and cannot be traced back to you.
