Saxony-Anhalt Day - We will be there!

Building for the world

In the "Building for the World" tent, visitors can discover construction projects in the Global South and get to know an unusual teaching format throughout Germany.

What does it feel like to manage a construction project in a foreign country? What challenges do they face? And how is the local population involved in planning and implementation? At the Saxony-Anhalt Day, interested parties will have the opportunity to ask these and many other questions directly to students and instructors involved in the international projects.

What awaits you:

  • Photos and films from past and current projects
  • Guided tours of national and international projects
  • Models to look at and discover
  • Students and instructors talk about their studies

Juntos on São Tomé

Students are currently working on the "Juntos on São Tomé" project, a design-build project in West Africa. They are taking on responsibility for planning, construction management, financing and the acquisition of funding. The plan is to construct a single-storey preschool building on the west coast of Africa, which is scheduled for completion in summer 2026.

Cooperation with the Leipzig-based association Mirador e.V., which has supported the projects for many years, is particularly important.

Our students learn more than just civil engineering: They learn what intercultural teamwork means and how to take on social responsibility.

Photo presentations, film screenings and a haptic model of the planned building provide insights into the project work. For 19 years now, students at the university have been involved in projects all over the world - from kindergartens in South Africa to health stations in Haiti and projects in Nepal. During the Saxony-Anhalt Days, visitors can see how students at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences plan and finance construction projects in structurally weaker regions and implement them themselves in conjunction with the local people.

Study Architecture

When studying Architecture at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, students learn to design and plan buildings and spaces creatively. The course combines design ideas with technical, constructive and sustainable aspects. Through design projects, practical courses and excursions, students gain early experience in the planning and implementation of building projects - in close proximity to the Bauhaus (Building 10 - Dessau) in Dessau.
