Title: DiMa-PV: Diversity-promoting maintenance management in ground-mounted photovoltaic systems
Description: The energy transition has been driven by a steady increase in the number of photovoltaic systems in the last decade. However, in order to achieve the expansion target formulated by the German government, the capacity already installed must continue to increase significantly and be quadrupled. At least half of this should be installed in open spaces and further expansion should be as environmentally friendly as possible. In addition to the spatial location control of ground-mounted photovoltaic systems (ground-mounted PV systems), their design with ecologically high-quality habitat structures makes a decisive contribution to this. Measures have already been developed and successfully tested for the development of particularly species- and flower-rich habitats in ground-mounted PV systems. The DiMa-PV project builds on this and focuses on the maintenance required over several decades - a decisive factor for the occurrence of species and the development of ecological functions. In two regions of Germany, PV-FFA of different maintenance management variants will be investigated with regard to their effects on floristic features, insect fauna, pollinator performance and supply functions for species groups of higher trophic levels. In addition, the surrounding landscape features and their significance for the colonization of PV PFA will be considered. As a result, the project will create an evidence-based decision-making aid for diversity-promoting maintenance management concepts for PV PFA and address the special conditions and challenges involved in their implementation.
