The basic aim of the project is to actively enhance grassland areas within FFH areas and thus restore a favorable conservation status of habitat types 6440 and 6510. On the one hand, scientific questions are to be clarified with the aim of optimizing methods; on the other hand, measures are to be implemented in order to meet the improvement requirement for areas with an unfavourable conservation status.
Priority 1 Systematic grassland enhancement trial in a project area near Vockerode
Priority 2 Further grassland enhancement measures (increasing floristic and structural diversity in other FFH areas)
Priority 3 Promotion of typical floodplain species Introduction of endangered species typical of floodplain habitats in suitable numbers of individuals
Priority 4 Continuation Success monitoring of vegetation development for some measures implemented in previous projects
The success of the measures will be reviewed by means of multi-year monitoring so that scientifically based recommendations for action can be derived for the practice of floristic enhancement of species-poor grassland stands.
