Title: INPAKT: Innovative LPWAN platform for energy-optimized data transport in wireless IoT networks
Description: The aim of the project is to develop a novel and highly energy-optimized Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) protocol for sensor networks, whose energy consumption is significantly reduced compared to the currently used protocols LoRaWAN, SigFox, NB-IoT or LTE-M while maintaining the same range. To this end, an adapted modulation method and a medium access method are being developed that will reduce the power consumption of the end nodes by around 30%, while the radio range should be around 12-15 km. As a result, extensive sensor networks can be set up in urban and rural areas and area-wide applications in smart farming and smart cities can be realized more efficiently and, due to the longer battery life, can also be operated much more cost-effectively than today.
