From College to Starting Her Own Business: An Interview with Katarina Borchert of HYDE Executives
As the founder and managing partner of HYDE Executives in Halle (Saale), Katarina Borchert embodies strategic networking, clear positioning, and entrepreneurial courage. She laid the groundwork for her future self-employment while pursuing her master’s degree at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. In this interview, she shares insights into her journey from college to starting her own business, her most important lessons learned, and the role of networks.
Katarina, tell us a little about yourself!
“I’m Katarina Borchert, 35 years old, and originally from the Baltic Sea region—specifically the Wismar/Schwerin area. I moved to Berlin for my bachelor’s degree and then to Saxony-Anhalt to pursue my master’s at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. Today, I live and work in Halle (Saale) and founded HYDE Executives GmbH in 2019.”
From college to consulting: How did your time at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences shape you?
“During my master’s program in Human Resource Management at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Bernburg, I learned to take a strategic approach to HR. It’s not just about traditional HR topics, but about how companies achieve success by having the right people.”
Mentoring & Networking: How important are strong sparring partners?
“Mentors and sounding boards are very important for founders. Especially in the beginning, you’re faced with many decisions you’ve never had to make before. […] A strong network is often a key factor for success.”
