Title: Collaborative learning labs in the plants of DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH

Description: In the next 5 years, 1,500 junior employees will be needed at DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH in order to be able to deploy enough rail vehicles for the transport turnaround. Many existing employees will retire in the next 5 years. They will leave behind vacancies in skilled trades such as electrical engineering, industrial mechanics and mechatronics. So far, the skilled trades have been dominated by cis-male workers. A good half of society (FLINTA) is underrepresented in maintenance and represents a large target group with potential for climate-relevant professions. GenZ is characterised by its political awareness of climate change, among other things. In future, Deutsche Bahn would like to reach more young people from these target groups who identify with a sustainable company such as DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH out of intrinsic motivation.
