The regional Saxony-Anhalt sustainable universities working group (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Nachhaltige Hochschulen Sachsen-Anhalt) was founded in March 2021. The group meets every two months (online) to exchange ideas on sustainability at universities and to initiate joint projects aimed at strengthening topic-related discussions and activities at the various institutions. At the meetings there is also frequent exchange with external institutions, e.g., by inviting guests with relevant expertise in specific topics. The working group is made up of representatives from the following higher education institution: Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Harz University of Applied Sciences, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, Merseburg University of Applied Sciences, Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (OVGU).
