Climate protection management
The Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is aware of its social responsibility and has set itself the goal of becoming greenhouse gas neutral in the areas of mobility and energy by 2035. This goal is in line with Germany's climate targets, which aim for greenhouse gas neutrality by 2045.
To achieve this goal, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences launched its first project, “KSI: Creation of an Integrated Climate Protection Management System for Anhalt University of Applied Sciences,” in October 2025. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) and the National Climate Protection Initiative (NKI).
Since climate protection management is a cross-cutting issue, it can only be achieved in cooperation with all relevant stakeholders. For this reason, all departments, institutions, and interest groups, as well as external partners of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, are involved in developing the concept.
The aim of the concept is to jointly develop feasible measures that will lead to a long-term, sustainable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. The implementation of these measures is intended to create a sustainable and climate-friendly environment for students, employees, and the region. This is closely linked to Anhalt University of Applied Sciences' sustainability strategy and the United Nations' sustainable development goals.
