Sustainability

Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has participated, for the first time, in the international "Green Metric" ranking procedure.

Education of students and research are the main fields of activity for every higher education institution. It is in this context that issues involving sustainable management and innovative processes for environmental preservation and, in particular, issues concerning climate protection need to be be addressed.

However, adapting to future requirements for environmental sustainability also represents a priority task for the technical safeguarding of teaching, research and continuing education. To this end, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has participated in the international "Green Metric" ranking procedure for the first time. Within this system, universities from all over the world are compared in terms of their activities in the field of ecological and environmental protection. The careful use of resources, such as energy and water, as well as the ensuring of sufficient green spaces on the university campus, play a particularly important role in this ranking.

As explained by the head of administration, Sabine Thalmann, participating in this international evaluation process in the field of ecological and environmental protection is, in itself, a significant step for the university, whilst simultaneously pointing out those areas where there is still room for improvement.
