Structural engineering 2
Offer 4th semester Bachelor's program
Scope 2 lecture units/ 3 exercise units
Proof of performance Paper
Prior knowledge Participation in the courses Structures 1 strongly recommended
The Structural Design 2 module focuses on the independent design of structures and, based on a technical design topic, various structural principles are presented and explained in a structured manner, subdivided into beam structures and surface structures, from arch and cable structures to trusses, skeleton structures and flat surface structures, shells, membrane and cable net structures, and applied in subsequent practical courses.
Students acquire the following skills:
- broad basis of possible load-bearing structures with an understanding of their suitability and their application potential
- Recognize the influence of statics, construction and building technology on design and organizational design decisions
- Practical coordination of the requirements of various specialist engineers while retaining your own architectural idea
- Develop architectural ideas that take into account the requirements of other planning participants and actively consider them in the design process
