Prof. Dr. Sabine Tischew Research project

Semi-open pasture landscape Oranienbaumer Heide

Using the "Oranienbaumer Heide" model area as an example, we deliberately take up applied problems from nature conservation practice and develop solutions using recognized scientific methods that can be transferred to other areas with similar problems. The results of our research work are an essential prerequisite for the scientifically sound derivation of renaturation or management measures for the conservation and development of species and habitats. In the Oranienbaum Heath, our current research focuses in particular on the ongoing optimization of measures for the regeneration and long-term conservation of the FFH open land habitats, which had been severely degraded by the start of the project. The project is intensively integrated into the training of students (especially in the Nature Conservation and Landscape Planning degree program). Theory is combined with practice in a very attractive project area with cutting-edge nature conservation issues: students help with the collection and evaluation of scientific data (student projects, Bachelor's and Master's theses) and can experience the application of the results in one of the largest grazing projects in Germany.
