Sustainability

AG Nachhaltigkeit (Sustainability Working Group)

Anhalt University’s Sustainability Working Group (AG Nachhaltigkeit) brings together various representatives from the university’s seven departments, as well as from the technical administration, from the student council, and from student initiatives. Meetings are usually held every two months. The members of the working group contribute ideas and suggestions brought to them via their various departments and organizations, with the aim of developing the university’s sustainability action plan and advancing the implementation of measures. The subsequent responsibilities for this are determined within the working group.

Other institutions involved

  • Wurzelwerk (student group)

Wurzelwerk is a Bernburg-based student initiative working on conservation and sustainability issues. At their regular meetings, they plan individual activities or simply enjoy good food.

As a mix of interest groups and nature conservation associations for students. Wurzelwerk runs various activities including local guided tours to identify typically ignored plants (Krautschau), garbage collection projects, field trips, such as to the nearby Hakel, or actions to conserve natural habitats. They also organize events such as clothes swap parties, plant swaps, and a pub quiz at the beginning of each semester. Wurzelwerk thus offers an open space for creative ideas and projects related to nature conservation and sustainability.

The active members of the group are mostly students coming from nature conservation courses; however, anyone interested, regardless of their degree program, is welcome to drop in.
