building envelope research group

The building envelope research group at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Department of Architecture, Facility Management and Geoinformation bundles research activities in the field of building envelopes. Under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stefan Reich, research concentrates on façade-related topics such as materials, construction, technology and energy.

Current key topics deal with the application of load-bearing glass constructions and the use of smart materials in adaptive façades.

Our testing equipment enables intensive experimental investigation within the research projects. This includes both the material and load-bearing behavior of building elements as well as the physical behavior of façade components.

The members of the research group are mainly involved in teaching knowledge in the field of load-bearing and façade constructions within architectural education. Supervision of the RoboticLab, which is equipped with an industrial robot, enables students to gain in-depth knowledge of parametric design and robot-assisted production.

As a testing and monitoring center for glass construction accredited by the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt), we support projects in obtaining building permits and are the point of contact for metal and façade construction companies in the region.
