The building envelope research group bundles research activities in the field of building envelopes. Under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stefan Reich, research focuses on the façade-related topics of materials, construction, technology and energy.

Current key topics deal with the application of load-bearing glass constructions and the use of smart materials in adaptive façades.

Our testing equipment enables intensive experimental research within the research projects. This includes both the material and load-bearing behavior of building elements as well as the physical behavior of façade components.
