building envelope research group

The building envelope research group at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Architecture, Facility Management and Geoinformation, focuses on research activities in the scope of the building envelope. 'Under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stefan Reich, this research group focuses on facade-relevant topics consisting of materials, construction, technology and energy.

Our current topics focus on the application of load-bearing glass constructions and the use of smart materials in adaptive facades.

Our technologically advanced equipment allows for intensive experimental and investigative exploration into research projects. This includes the materialistic and structural behavior of building components as well as the structural-physical behavior of facade components.

The members of the research group focus primarily on teaching architectural skills regarding load bearing and façade construction. Our robotic lab, equipped with an industrial robot, enables students to gain in-depth knowledge of parametric design and robot-assisted manufacturing under expert supervision.

As a German Institute for Construction Technology (DIBt) accredited testing and inspection faculty for glass construction, we support projects in obtaining a building permit and are the responsible facility for all metal and facade construction companies in the region.
