EduXBot

EduXBot successfully completed – final reports published – February/May 2026

The final reports for both sub-projects were published as open access via the Technical Information Library (TIB) in Hanover: the report from Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (FKZ 03WIR3118A) on 27 February 2026, and the report from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (FKZ 03WIR3118B) on 20 May 2026. The project is thus fully documented and the results are accessible for research and practical application.

Project completion – December 2025

After a three-year run, EduXBot was successfully completed in December 2025. The final proof of concept brings together three in-house developed solutions – a social conversation and telepresence robot, a robot dog to accompany residents on walks, and VR-based biographical work – under a single interface that can be operated by care staff.

Evaluation in Nursing Practice – 2024/2025

The prototypes were tested and iteratively improved in collaboration with professional carers at the Am Lutzepark municipal care home in Köthen and at the Bitterfeld/Wolfen Health Centre gGmbH. The system achieved high levels of acceptance in workshops and feasibility studies. Key technical contributions included robust voice interaction in noisy communal areas and optimised mapping for safe navigation.

EduXBot in the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung - 4 August 2023

EduXbot exhibits at the Medica trade fair 2023 - 13 to 16 November 2023

EduXBot was exhibited at the "Research of the Future" stand at the Medica 2023 trade fair. The project attracted many guests and business people alike! EduXbot certainly made many valuable contacts and was certainly an advertising magnet.

After a feasibility study conducted jointly for all identified use cases, all key stakeholders, including project partners, developers and end users, vote on the identified use cases to jointly create a selection of use cases. The selected use cases are categorised as Robot Assistant, Robot Teacher and AR/VR/Telepresence. The role of a dialogue partner, a comedian, a player and an avatar are just a few examples. This also confirms the required hardware/software platforms. 

EduXBot will be presented at the Hannover Messe 2023 - 17 to 21 April 2023

EduXBot was presented at the Hannover Messe 2023 on all 5 days. Many guests were enthusiastic and welcomed the future of care with robots in the healthcare sector.  Many valuable and interesting contacts in science, business and research were made for future partnerships.
