Course content and objectives
Graduates with a first university degree in engineering are to be qualified in a targeted manner for management tasks at the middle and senior level under consideration of their previous professional experience. The five-semester program goes in depth especially into analytical-methodological skills so that in their desired management positions students can understand, analyze, and assess operational processes systematically.
Today, engineers must increasingly take on management tasks and leadership responsibility. However, this requires knowledge of all operational areas and the methods for shaping business processes. Typically, a completed engineering degree or engineering competence that has been acquired through professional work is not sufficient for this. Work in middle and senior level management also requires ever more subject and method expertise, for example in the areas of production, logistics, marketing, business law, controlling, and project management.
This career-integrated program teaches business and management-oriented content to provide the knowledge required by the job market. For more than twelve years, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has been running this career-integrated program in Engineering and Management. This master’s program provides the tools for taking on management positions in companies and institutions.

- Corporate management

Program sequence
The degree program was developed according to the pedagogical concept of blended learning. This teaching and learning concept provides a didactically sensible linking of on-campus classes and virtual learning based on new information and communication media. In this way, students are able to learn at any time and from any location.
The attendance phases take place exclusively on three dates per semester, each lasting three days (Thursday to Saturday). Therefore, the students’ attendance time comprises only about fifteen percent of the total degree program.
The normal program length, including writing the master's thesis, is five semesters in total. The modular structure includes the completion of a total of twelve modules. The elective modules (two modules) focus on digital trends (“Prozessmanagement” and “Digitale Produktion und Instandhaltung”) or on the range of topics of digital competencies (“Digitale Technologien” and “Datenmanagement”).
The university's team of lecturers is supported by qualified experts with professional experience from companies and institutions in the implementation of the classes and the tutorial support for students in the online-supported self-study phases.
The module “Praxistransfer” in the fourth semester represents a special highlight of this cooperation within the degree program, which consists of the classes “Management-Planspiel”, “Qualifikationsspezifisches Integrationsprojekt” and “Projektseminar”. This project seminar aims to teach students how to independently plan and implement a given task in a team, based on methods of project management. In addition, the qualification-specific integration project as well as the topic of the master's thesis is coordinated in close cooperation with the student’s respective professional environment.
