  • Information on the studium generale

In the Bachelor's degree programs Applied Computer Science - Digital Media and Game Development and Specialized Translation - Software and Media (2019) as well as Specialized Communication - Software Localization (2012) , the studium generale module is required. The Examination and Degree Program Regulations (in Appendix 4) state:

“Modules from the modules of another degree program, from the module “Computer Science and Society” or from other modules determined by resolution of the Department Executive Committee and special achievements according to § 12, paragraph 2 or a combination of these achievements can be brought into the module.”

You can find more information about acquiring credits for the studium generale on Moodle in the course “Studienorganisation”.

You can therefore earn credits for the studium generale as follows:

    • by attending one or more modules from another program at the university. You need 5 CP; you have to get confirmation of the acquired CP on the form “Proof of achievement for the module studium generale”.
    • by attending the module “Computer Science and Society”. In this module you can earn 3 to 5 CP, depending on your performance. This achievement will be automatically credited to you in HISQIS after you take the ungraded assessment.
    • by participation in collaborative academic management processes (Hochschulselbstverwaltung), or public relations activities of Anhalt University. Credits may also be earned through commitment to students with disabilities, commitment to internationalization concerns or in other areas as determined by resolution of the Department Executive Committee. You must have these accomplishments confirmed by a responsible person on the “
    • Request for Recognition of Achievements ” form.by attending specialist lectures and colloquia.A maximum of 2 CP can be earned this path. You maintain proof of attendance of lectures on the form “Proof of participation in lectures” by having a professor confirm each lecture attendance. For 5 attended lectures you will receive 1 CP.
Note: Lectures that are part of the degree program, such as seminar lectures, internship defenses or final colloquia, i.e. bachelor or master colloquia, do not count as to the “billable” lectures and colloquia in this context!
    • through a combination of the above. For example, 2 CP from participation in the Student Representative Committee plus 3 CP from a module from another degree program, or 1 CP from attending lectures and 4 CP from “Computer Science and Society” or another combination.

Submit the approved forms to the departmental Board of Examiners to receive the credit points. Note that you are responsible for providing proof yourself. Subsequent confirmation of any of the above achievements by the department is not possible.

  • Everything about the internship

The internship is an integral part of the bachelor's program. It serves the practical application of theoretical knowledge acquired in the course of studies, the teaching of social skills within the working world as well as the motivation and orientation for the subsequent stages of studies.

You must provide evidence of the following periods as internships in your studies:

Typically, you will complete your internship in the 5th semester (programs with PSO 2012) or in the 6th semester (programs with SPO 2019). It will be worth 25 credits in total. The implementation of the professional internship is regulated by the internship regulations for the Bachelor's degree programs:

    Preparing for the internship

    • Find a place where you can do your internship
    • You are free to choose any company, public authority or academic institution. They must be able to supervise your internship and give you an assignment that is compatible with your degree program. An internship in your own company is not possible.
    • Agree on an assignment
    • This must be in writing and signed by your supervisor at work. Use Appendix 1 of the Internship Regulations for this purpose.
    • Find a mentor at the university
    • Any professor or faculty member of the Department authorized to administer exams may be considered here. Contact your mentor in a timely manner to discuss mentoring.

    Admission to the internship

There are some requirements for your admission to the internship:

    1. You must have at least 90 credits in your degree program at the time of application.
    2. You must submit the completed Appendix 1 of the Internship Regulations to the internship coordinator approximately 4 weeks prior to the start of the internship. You will also need the signature of your university mentor.

    During the internship

During your internship, you will be expected to work primarily on your assignment. We also recommend that you:

    • stay in touch with your university mentor and keep him or her informed of your progress.
    • start thinking about and taking notes for your internship report while you are still working.

    After the internship

    After the internship you must

    • write an internship report containing the main contents, results and conclusions for further work on the topic and submit it to your university mentor.
    • have your internship institution complete Appendix 2 of the Internship Regulations and submit it to your university mentor along with your internship report.
    • give a presentation on your internship (defending the internship report). To do this, make an appointment with your university mentor.
    • Turn in Appendix 3 of the Internship Regulations to your university mentor. There you will receive confirmation of the submission of the internship report and its defense.

If your university mentor certifies that the internship has been properly completed and all documentation is available, the way is clear for the internship to be recognized. Everything else will be arranged by your university mentor and the person responsible for the internship. Also, you should ask your internship company for a reference. Although not required by the Internship Regulations, we encourage you to do this as it may be helpful for future job applications.

    Notes

    • Make sure you find an internship in a timely manner. An internship abroad requires lead time of approximately one year.
    • Read through the Internship Regulations.
    • Make sure you meet the admission requirements.
    • Communicate with your university mentor. He or she can help you with problems and questions.
