Our students are shaping the world of the future
At first glance, Computer Science and Languages don't seem to fit together, but in terms of content, they go hand-in-hand: Our degree programs operate at the intersection of digitalization, media, (programming-) languages, and future technologies.
From applied computer science to the “exotic” subject of software localization, our department offers those degree programs that are critical to shaping a digitized and networked world. From Bachelor's to Master's degrees, Computer Science with applications such as Game Development as well as Data Science and Interactive Media pave the way to exciting careers.
Specialized Translation and Software Localization form the linguistic component of our department, where we train specialists who contribute significantly to the internationalization of software products.
More than just math, ones and zeros - interdisciplinary studies in Köthen
In our multidisciplinary Bachelor's degree programs, we analyze, conceive and design classic and new media, or help with the internationalization and marketing of software products, including translation. For example, students in Computer Science create commercials or software solutions. They also develop Internet applications, such as computer games or online stores, and program classic software systems in small teams. The strong practical orientation of our degree programs is also reflected in the many projects that have been implemented with real-life partners. In Localization, online help, user manuals, as well as computer program menus and buttons are translated and adapted to specific target languages.
