Analysis and improving of double-end traveling wave fault location of power line

One of the main factors reducing the reliability of electricity supply to consumers is short circuits and breaks in power transmission lines (PTL). These faults are accompanied by power interruptions, increased power losses, as well as impaired stability of the power system. Therefore, it is important to quickly and accurately locate faults on transmission lines. Today, most operational microprocessor-based relay protection equipment is equipped with fault location functions based on fault mode parameters. It is known that the error in estimating the distance to the fault location for these devices is 1-2% of the overhead line length. It follows from the foregoing that increasing the accuracy of the fault location (FL) is an urgent task.
