Juan Felipe Diaz Quintero - Biomedical Engineering Masterarbeit

VR meets minimal invasive surgery

For his master's thesis in 2023 Juan Felipe Diaz Quintero developed a virtual reality program to teach minimal invasive surgery to biomedical engineering students.

Plenty of VR projects deal with teaching medical students for training of surgeries etc. - but not only the medical personnel should understand how to carry out the procedures. Students of biomedical engineering that develop such devices should also know how the devices are used in the operating room.

Here, Felipe - a student and now graduate of Biomedical Engineering himself - created a VR training simulation that aims at students of our biomedical engineering master degree program. The application complements one of our regular lectures.
