inter-Regional Innovations forum (iRIFs) 2022

Renewable energies and IIOT

18 - 28 October 2022

The Future Internet Lab Anhalt at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, led by Prof.Dr.Eduard Siemens was holding an inter-regional innovation forum (iRIF) in Almaty/Kazakhstan and Tashkent/Uzbekistan in the week beginning 18.10.2022. The trip's objective builds on the experience of the two Travelling Conferences he held in Southeast Asia in 2017 and Central Asia in 2019.

The main idea is to bring together a group of experts consisting of professors from German universities, technical managers from industry, especially from SMEs, and the management of large research institutions to hold a conference on the abovementioned topic. On the part of the hosts, representatives of the three directions - universities, research institutions, and industry, extended by representatives from public administration, interest groups as well as representatives of German companies in the country - should also be invited.

The format of the Travelling Conference has proven itself — all German SMEs and research institutions participating in it have since implemented several R&D activities in the countries. With representatives from the ministries and from various funding organizations, the format can also be used to discuss funding opportunities for the realization of ideas that have arisen.

The iRIF mentioned above took place in Tashkent and Almaty. Representatives from the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan and the energy center Pavlodar, where about 40 % of energy production takes place and where particularly "energy-hungry" industries are gathered, were invited. In addition, representatives from neighboring Uzbekistan were invited to the iRIF.

In addition to some professors of communication technology and energy technology, representatives of the management of a Fraunhofer Institute has agreed to participate in the trip, as well as some managing directors of innovative SMEs.
