Compensation for disadvantages
Students with impairments and those suffering from chronic illnesses have a statutory right to compensation for disadvantages in their studies and examinations. Students can request this compensation via the Examinations Committee (Prüfungsausschuss) of their department. The University's Representative for the Severely Disabled supports students with their request for compensation. Please note that the use of compensation for disadvantages will not be entered on final bachelor’s / master’s certificates.
Compensation for disadvantages includes, for example, extending the time allowed to work on examination tasks, providing a laptop or other permitted supplementary material, a different examination room, a different form of examination, etc. Each case needs to be assessed individually and no general statement can be made.
