Scholarships abroad at a glance
There are many financing options for stays abroad. We recommend this: Inform yourself in good time in order to be as well prepared as possible. The DAAD brochure "Going abroad with a scholarship" provides initial comprehensive information.

BAföG is available to all those who are eligible for funding, including those abroad, so that everyone can take advantage of a stay abroad. Read more here...

Important: Apply for funding abroad at least 6 months before you travel!
The higher funding rates for education abroad mean that students who do not receive funding in Germany (e.g. because their parents' income is too high) are also entitled to BAföG.
ERASMUS+ is a funding program of the European Union and much more. In addition to financial support, it also regulates the framework conditions for stays abroad such as: Recognition of achievements, waiver of tuition fees and language support services.
It is probably the most attractive way to study abroad at a European partner university of the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences.
With the Erasmus worldwide program (KA131 International / KA171) we support study visits to the following partner universities outside the EU:
- Albania: POLIS University (Architecture, Design)
- Albania: Polytechnic University of Tirana (Architecture, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering)
- Ethiopia: Bahir Dar University (Nature Conservation, Landscape Planning, Agriculture)
- Japan: Kyushu University (Architecture, Design)
- Kazakhstan: Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications (Electrical and Computer Engineering)
- Kazakhstan: Satbayev University (Electrical and Computer Engineering)
- Kenya: Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Nature Conservation and Landscape Planning, Agriculture)
- Namibia: University of Namibia (Nature Conservation and Landscape Planning, Agriculture)
- Ukraine (no stays abroad possible until further notice)
- Zambia: Copperbelt University (Nature Conservation, Landscape Planning, Agriculture)
Labs in Europe
Labs in countries of the European Union, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey can be funded via ERASMUS+. All information on this can be found at our partner, the Erasmus Internship Office Saxony-Anhalt (Magdeburg).
⏰ Application deadline: at least 4 weeks before the start of the internship!

The Erasmus Lab Office Saxony Anhalt also awards up to 1/5 of the scholarships for labs in countries outside the EU. The demand here is higher than the supply, i.e. you must also expect not to receive funding
Alternatives for funding labs worldwide: PROMOS or HAW.International
PROMOS is a DAAD funding program for study visits and labs worldwide. A selection committee of the university meets in June and December to select the scholarship holders. The majority of our outgoers worldwide can thus receive a travel allowance or a monthly scholarship for their lab or study visit.
Apply by 30.11.2025 if you are starting abroad by June 2026 at the latest!
The Fulbright Commission awards semester, annual and travel scholarships for study visits to the USA. In addition, four-week Summer Institutes including a scholarship are offered in the USA during the summer months.
Apply to Fulbright Germanyby February 1, 2026 for a travel scholarship if you would like to study in the USA as part of a German-American university partnership program.
The scholarship benefits include 2,000 euros, participation in preparatory and networking meetings of German and American Fulbright scholars, and inclusion in the international Fulbright network of Fulbright scholars and alumni.

Internshiptrack A
Applications for full-time internships completed on your own initiative.
The lab must be relevant to your studies and fit in with your individual educational path.
Internship track B
You can apply for up to two of the advertised internship offers (prioritization necessary). The application must be aimed at the specific requirements and task profile of the advertised lab.

The program promotes the active participation of members of German universities of applied sciences (HAW) and universities of applied sciences (FH) in international scientific congresses abroad, both in presence and online.

This program supports research stays abroad during a doctorate at a German HAW. Stays abroad can last between one and six months. The funding period can be divided up and can also take place in different countries.

The program is aimed at students of Faculty 2 (Business Administration/IBS) and enables them to begin their second Bachelor's year with a five-month study visit to a French university.
In addition to the regular courses, the study visit includes
- language tandems between German and French students
- an accompanying cultural program
- initial insights into professional fields of work
The program is funded with a scholarship of €450 per month. In addition, PEF offers pedagogical and logistical support, in particular for a place to live.

Full and partial scholarships for a semester abroad in Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia.
The study programs of GOstralia!-GOmerica! study programs are aimed at "free movers" and enable an exchange with universities and colleges outside the offers of partner universities of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences.
If you are spending a semester abroad at our partner university Vancouver Island University (VIU) in Canada, you can apply for a scholarship at the International Student Office in Darmstadt.(https://www.international-student-office.org/stipendium/stipendium-kanada/) This scholarship can be combined with the HAW.International or PROMOS program.
