We look forward to your visit!
Welcome to Bernburg-Strenzfeld
Colorful, lively and traditional: The Historical Harvest Festival takes place on the estate of the DLG International Crop Production Center in Bernburg-Strenzfeld. The festival begins at 10:00 a.m. with the traditional harvest parade, which depicts the development of Agriculture. The Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and the Saxony-Anhalt State Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture are organizing the harvest festival, which is taking place for the 29th time this year.
Program
In addition to music and dancing on stage, there are numerous highlights relating to Agriculture. The tractor parade with vehicles is a spectator magnet: Tractors and tractors from the 1920s are demonstrated and expertly commented on. The large farmers' market offers a colorful variety of regional products. Cattle, sheep and alpacas can be experienced up close. Their owners are happy to give advice and important tips on keeping and handling farm animals. The old-fashioned plowing is done on foot, past meadows and fields. Companies, clubs, schools and kindergartens compete for the winning place in the straw figure and scarecrow competition with their self-made figures. There is also plenty on offer for younger guests: They can let off steam on the straw playground, jump on the trampoline, ride ponies or listen to a fairytale performance. Many stalls invite you to do handicrafts and be creative.
The Historical Harvest Festival starts at 10:00 am and ends at around 6:00 pm. Admission is 8 euros and is free for children up to the age of 10. Visitors with disabilities pay 4.00 euros. There are bus connections from Bernburg to Strenzfeld. Parking lots are available for those arriving by car.

The traditional harvest parade, which begins immediately after the opening, uses machinery and equipment to show the history of Agriculture "then and now". From sowing to harvesting, agricultural processing equipment for cereals, potatoes and sugar beet is presented. The parade is supported and accompanied by local heritage associations and traditional costume groups from the region.

As has become a tradition, the vintage ploughing event is held as an open national championship every year. This allows participants to qualify for national and European competitions with their historic tractors and plows.
Of course, horse and cart teams with plows will also take part in the competition.
All competitors will be introduced at the opening (stage) and technical details of the vehicles and equipment will be explained.

The straw figure competition has become an integral part of the Historic Harvest Festival in recent years and enriches the festival with numerous creative ideas.
Businesses, clubs and schools take part in this competition. As well as having fun, the competition encourages team spirit and gives participants the opportunity to present themselves to a wide audience.
You can look forward to interesting motifs, which will be credited by an expert jury. The award ceremony will take place at 13:30 on stage 2.

The "scarecrow competition" for our younger guests allows children to participate in the design of the Historical Harvest Festival and show the "grown-ups" what they are made of.
Encouraged by the great response, the organizers have once again invited elementary school, nurseries and children's facilities from all over the Salzland district to take part in the "scarecrow competition" this year. The children have great ideas of what a scarecrow could look like (anything is allowed, from fairy tales to fantasy figures). And the adults can help to realize the children's ideas with help and advice and a wide variety of materials that can be found in the sewing basket at home, in dad's workshop or in the grandparents' garden.
The award ceremony for the three most beautiful figures will take place on stage at 13:30.

You can learn a lot about the keeping and handling of farm animals such as cattle, sheep, poultry and rabbits on site. Visitors can experience the animals up close.
The highlight is the licensing of "East Frisian dairy sheep" by Robert Hanauska and "Thuringian forest goats" from the "Estancia" sheep farm (Ulrike Wehrspon) by the breeding manager of the sheep breeding association Christoph Ingelmann.
At the licensing, the animals are entered into the so-called herd book. The herd book is a certified compilation of pedigree records of breeding animals, strains or animal families, which is organized and maintained by the breeding association. Herd book breeding is interested in documenting as much as possible and breeding offspring of the highest possible quality and, above all, of equal value.
