Interview with Laura Völke

Laura Völke (LV) on her studies

Ms. Völke, what previous education do you have?
LV: “I studied a career-integrated degree program in Automotive Mechatronics and Informatics with a specialization in computer science with integrated vocational training as an electronics technician for automation technology.”

What was your motivation for choosing the post-graduate program? What has contributed to it?
LV: “After my bachelor's degree, I had the opportunity to join an interesting project in a new department in Braunschweig. I was already able to contribute to this project with my bachelor's thesis. I was sure I wanted to earn a master's degree. Due to my work situation, I decided on a career-integrated master's degree program. I chose the degree program in Engineering and Management because I wanted to expand my engineering knowledge with economic content after completing my bachelor's degree. I can also see myself in a leading position with personnel responsibility and would like to be well prepared for this.”

Why did you choose Anhalt University of Applied Sciences?
LV: “Attendance periods, easy to reach, studying together with 2 other colleagues, price/performance ratio – post-graduate education at Anhalt University is compatible with my professional requirements.”

How has the content of your degree program helped you in your day-to-day work?
LV: “I encounter knowledge learned in the program in various situations in my daily work and have a better understanding of economic contexts now. Application is not limited to a specific situation, it is the many smaller situations where this knowledge helps me.”

How does this post-graduate program integrate into your daily life?
LV: “First, there are the attendance phases every second month with classes from Thursday to Saturday. For these phases, I can take partial educational leave or try to use my overtime to get time off. I also plan a schedule for preparation or follow-up of the attendance phases, independent study, homework and studying for exams. Overall, I have found it easier so far to integrate the program into my everyday life than I had expected. During certain periods, the workload for the program is more intensive, for example, before exams. In some weeks, however, I don't need to study at all.”

Thank you very much for the interview, Ms. Völke!
