Ecotrophology (M.Sc.)

Department of Agriculture, Ecotrophology, and Landscape Development

Course content and objectives

Ecotrophology is among one of the most diverse scientific disciplines. Those who examine human nutrition and food supply must know as much about natural science issues as about engineering subjects. In addition, they must be able to include and apply social scientific and business insights.

After the bachelor’s degree, the master’s program offers the chance to learn even more about certain specializations in Ecotrophology. Based on this, the master’s program in Ecotrophology concentrates on the production of food and related challenges. It is therefore tailored especially to those students who aim to work in the food industry.

To develop the necessary skills for this, the program is focused especially on food quality and technology, food safety and hygiene, and practical nutritional science content.

This is an extraordinarily interesting field. In order to be able to make decisions in the food industry and manage and influence processes, various perspectives must be included: The engineering-technological feasibility in production and consumers’ behavior and demands; the business interests of companies and social norms and rules; the requirements and consequences for the human organism related to the supply and consumption of food; and the consequences for the natural environment and society. The master’s program in Ecotrophology at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences considers this variety and ensures that the program is designed for everyone who is ready to cross traditional subject boundaries in favor of a holistic approach.
