Course content and objectives
This program builds on a related previous degree (Bachelor, Diplom) to convey and practice knowledge and skills that cross the boundaries of traditional agribusiness and food industry disciplines. After completing the program, graduates have the competences necessary for taking on a management role in the national and international food industry and agribusiness sector. Based on the study objectives, the qualifications obtained serve primarily for companies in the agricultural and food industry, but also companies in food retail and wholesale companies as well as in associations and government agencies. The degree program
The master's degree program in Food and Agribusiness is an interdisciplinary and scientific program which consists of four semesters. The application-oriented degree program in Food and Agribusiness prepares students for leadership roles requiring competencies along the entire food chain. From this perspective, a broad scope of well-founded knowledge "from the producer to the consumer" is critical.
This knowledge revolves around international trends in the production, processing and sales of agricultural products and foods. But it also involves the practicalities of globalization: What are the requirements and what are the consequences for consumer needs, consumption standards and shopping habits? What are the challenges regarding food safety and consumer protection and what are the business management aspects? This master's degree program answers these and many other questions in a practice-oriented way.
The career opportunities are good: Graduates can take on a wide variety of consulting, leadership and management roles on either the producer or the consumer side.
