Main focus

Language, culture and software = Software Localization

As the name suggests, two major fields of study are basically combined in one department here at our site. "Software Localization" or "Specialized Translation - Software and Media" has a special place in this context.

Software Localization is a practice-oriented degree program with a focus on language and translation, cultural characteristics and user behavior. Localization experts adapt software to linguistic and cultural features of different target markets. You will translate online help content, user manuals and software menus and buttons, and will then resize them to fit the new language. Using your knowledge of languages and cultures combined with the necessary information technology, you will adapt shapes and colors to different target markets, which makes this degree program varied and interdisciplinary.

To summarize: 1/3 language training in English and German, 1/3 intercultural communication and project management and 1/3 translation technology and basics of computer science.
