Review of the 26th International Conference on Information Technologies in Landscape Architecture
The 26th International Conference on Information Technologies in Landscape Architecture (DLA 2025) took place from June 4th to 7th, 2025 in Dessau, organized by Matthias Pietsch from Hochschule Anhalt. This hybrid event brought together around 175 participants from 29 countries, with a focus on the theme "Collaboration."
Keynote speakers Prof. Dr. Antje Backhaus, Prof. Carl Steinitz, and Prof. Carlos Licon highlighted interdisciplinary solutions for challenges like the sponge city approach and climate adaptation. The conference featured 62 presentations on topics such as digital participation, data-driven design, and geodesign technologies, and included a critical panel discussion on digital tools in collaboration.
Workshops, including a session on "Generative AI in Landscape Architecture" by Dr. Steven Ervin, were well-attended. The conference also emphasized the role of landscape architecture in the New European Bauhaus initiative. A student competition celebrated innovative projects, with winners from Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, and Penn State University.
The social program included a dinner, Bauhaus tour, and excursions to Wörlitz and Park Georgium. All contributions are available as Open Access in the Journal of Digital Landscape Architecture (JoDLA). Recordings will be uploaded to the DLA 2025 website, fulfilling all conference goals.

The Journal of Digital Landscape Architecture addresses all aspects of digital technologies, applications, information, and knowledge bases in research, education, and practice pertaining to landscape architecture and related fields. The journal publishes original papers that address theoretical and practical issues, innovative developments, methods, applications, findings, and case studies that are drawn primarily from work presented at the annual international Digital Landscape Architecture conference. Its intent is to encourage the broad dissemination of these ideas, innovations, and practices. The Journal of Digital Landscape Architecture is listed in the international citation database Scopus. It is in the top 35% of all journals in the engineering / architecture category.
