Support from an experienced and competent supervisor is crucial to the success of a doctoral student. Supervisors also play a key role in ensuring the quality of doctoral theses in terms of requirements and academic standards.

In this online format, you can confidentially exchange your experiences you made regarding your supervisor(s). In addition, the trainers will provide brief input on recommendations in terms of good research practice, applicable regulations, and options for action in the event of conflicts.

• Exchange of experiences and best practices in supervision

• Information on applicable rights and obligations in the supervisory relationship as good research practice

• Knowledge of options for action in the event of conflict

Trainers

Dr. Christiane Hedtmann, advisor for early career researchers at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, has proven, long-standing experience in adult education and university teaching. She is also a career coach in academia.

Josephin Winkler, advisor for early career researchers at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, is a well-trained university educator and has many years of experience in adult education.

Both are certified trainers in good research practice.

Note: Doctoral students at the doctoral centers in Saxony-Anhalt should note that, according to the doctoral regulations of the IWIT, Life Science, Architecture & Design Research, and Environment and Technology doctoral centers, they are required to provide proof of attendance at courses on “good scientific practice.” This workshop can count toward that requirement.
