International demand for study programs at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences continues to rise

Since September 2021, the Sustainable Food Systems Engineering, Technology and Business (M. Sc.) international degree course offered by Anhalt University of Applied Sciences together with KU Leuven in Ghent, Belgium, the Catholic University of Portugal in Porto and the University in Dublin, Ireland will be funded by the European Union. This study course, which focuses in particular on issues of sustainability in food production, obviously hits the "nerve of the time". While 45 students from all continents could be enrolled in September 2021, the current applicant pool stands at 210 candidates.

At the current meeting of the selection committee in Dublin on April 7 and 8, 2022, the representatives of the four European universities were faced with a very difficult selection task. The documents show impressively that the quality of the applicants regarding their previous education from the home countries has increased again. This applies in particular to the high level in the natural sciences. Actually, this is also logical - how can sustainability and climate protection be realized without sound knowledge of the natural sciences?

The partners agreed that graduates of this program can form a global network regarding sustainable food production and therefore every effort must be made to meet the high number of applicants.
