Studio Project 2020/21: Redesign Willy Brandt Park in Norderstedt – Play&Sports Innovation

"I am particularly interested in the topics of "creative and barrier-free playgrounds", "unconventional sports facilities" and "intergenerational and health-promoting use of open spaces". This statement from Andreas Bothe of Norderstedt's planning department sums up the core task for the project quite well. New ideas, such as digitized, interactive solutions, gamification approaches or energy-generating sports facilities for attractive future play and sports environments were particularly in demand as part of the redesign of Willy Brandt Park. Fortunately, a competent cooperation partner for the project could be found in Jeroen Reinderink, managing director of the interactive sports and play equipment manufacturer Yalp GmbH. The proposal of Liubou Vinslove was selected and presented to the development team of Yalp GmbH to check the feasibility and a possible implementation.

In the Atelier Urban Design, students of the international MLA and MLU program dealt with the complex profile of requirements for the redesign of the park in winter 2020/21. With their broadly conceived solutions, a coherent overall concept and a strengthened identity for the new park, they are helping to provide the city of Norderstedt with a valuable decision-making aid for the future planning and implementation.

Cooperation Partner:

  • Jeroen Reinderink, Geschäftsführer Yalp GmbH
  • Achim Möller, Planung&Moderation, Hamburg
