Various scholarships are offered now and then by the internationl office IO but since the number of applications by students from the entire university is high whereas the number of awarded scholarships is low, it will be difficult to obtain such a scholarship. Please check the information provided by the IO regularly to not miss an opportunity. However, you may of course apply for external scholarships for example with the DAAD.
If you have received your education in English, please include a statement or a paper that shows that. If proof can be presented you do not have to present a TOEFL/IELTS certificate.
We are happy to provide such letter if needed. Please contact us.

There are several options for finding accommodation. Please not that the dorms are primarily for 1st semester bachelor students and for students under the age of 30. Hence you should direct your focus to private and public landlords. We are offering the contacts that we have below, please know that our abilities to assist you with finding accommodation unfortunately ends here. A limited number of furnished one-room apartments is available but it is not the general standard. You have to consider roommating with fellow studens in a larger apartment and you have to entertain the thought of buying some furniture. Some students also look for room mates or sell used furniture.
Pay special attention to the fact that some of the ads specify a limited time for rent, say, 1 or 2 months and not the whole semester.
You have to network using the information given below:
Student Dorms
The Studentenwerk offers dorms near the campus. Please keep in mind that the dorms are in high demand and are primarily directed at 1st semester ba-students. Nevertheless, it is always worth trying to apply for a dorm but to also keep an eye open for alternatives. You can find information concerning the dorms here: www.hs-anhalt.de/en/life/dessau/housing/residence-halls.html

The study regulations do not required include internships. Hence the immigration laws do not allow to officially apply for an internship or "holiday" semester. You may of course apply for internships nevertheless. If you are successful in finding an internship you must remain an enrolled student by re-registering and hence extend your studies for the duration of the internship.
Re-registration is done by transfering the program fees within the re-registration period. For details please check: <link en/study/during-your-studies/formalities/re-registration.html?showOptIn=1>https://www.hs-anhalt.de/en/study/during-your-studies/formalities/re-registration.html?showOptIn=1</link>
A few days after the transfer, your updated immatriculation papers will become available for download at:

It is absolutely VITAL. The housing contract, in German, “Mietvertrag” is a must to open, among other things, the bank account and to get the visa once you are in Dessau. So, as soon as you get a place, ask the tenant (Vermieter) to give it to you, signed.
No! So far we are not taking a tuition fee to study at the MAID. We do however ask for €800 per semester to pay for materials and other costs arising. In addition to this there is a registration fee of €86 per semester.
The students must be able to cover the costs for their master thesis. However, there might be opportunites to contact sponsors maybe through the help of your advisers.

Kaltmiete (KM) is the cost of the rent, Nebenkosten (NK) are the services such as heating, gas, electricity, water, etc.. Warmmiete (WM) is the Kaltmiete + Nebenkosten. Kaution is a security deposit that in most cases, equals 3 months of rent.
Dessau is a medium-sized town about 90 minutes south of Berlin and 45 minutes north of Leipzig. It is known for two UNESCO world heritage sites: the Bauhaus and the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm. Both define the city and its surroundings and make it a destination for many tourists all through the year. Downtown you will find all that is necessary for every day shopping as well as shopping malls. The infrastructure includes an extensive system of busses and trams. The best way to get around the city is, however, a bike.
There are two different fees you need to pay. One is for registration with the school and one is for the program itself. Both fees have to be paid each semester. The registration fee is 76€ in the first semester and 70€ for each following semester. The program fee also called semester flat fee is 800€. Both fees together (876€) have to be transfered together before the registration or re-registration deadline.
The portfolio is supposed to show examples of your work that best illustrate your abilities and interests. The number of works shown is not fixed. We do, however, encourage you to make a careful selection. Try to show a range of skills and also processes. We are not only interested in the final outcome but also in the steps you took to get there. We want to see modelmaking, sketching, failure, all that is part of a design process.
Also briefly explain your projects so we can understand them. Make sure you safe your portfolio with a decent resolution so that text remains legible.

The program is laid out to last 3 semesters. The first 2 include projects that are offered in order to explore the different possibilities of the design profession. The third semester is reserved fort he preparation of the master thesis. It is possible to take vacation-semesters as well as going on an internship-semester.
The MAID is a program at the University of Applied Sciences in Dessau, the city that was home to the famous avant-garde design school Bauhaus between 1926 and 1932.
The focus is on the integration of the multiple design disciplines such as product, graphic, media, information design and others by offering projects that include all these aspects of design. It is an international course of study and is therefore held in English. So far, the students have come for more than 20 countries, creating a very diverse and heterogeneous atmosphere (see also program description).
You will find your grades for each modules in the HIS-QIS Examination Portal.
There are several hotels, hostels and Gasthäuser for all the budgets. Some of the most famous ones near downtown are: City-Pension Dessau-Roßlau, Radisson Blu Fürst Leopold Hotel, Jugendherberge Dessau, NH Dessau and Hotel 7 Säulen. Nevertheless, more can be found using services such as Booking and, even a more convenient option can be Airbnb or Couchsurfing.
