Whether it’s banks, appraisal firms, or public institutions: Qualified professionals in Real Estate Evaluation are in high demand. At the same time, many prospective students know very little about the profession. Student Max Paßlack explains from his own experience why it’s worth taking a look at the dual bachelor's degree program in Real Estate Evaluation at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. “I had no idea before that you could study Real Estate Evaluation,” says the Dessau native, who is in his fourth semester. He first learned about Anhalt University of Applied Sciences through an advertisement. “I checked out the website, and the degree program’s specialization immediately appealed to me.”
The dual study program, which alternates between theory in the classroom and practical experience at a company, allows Max Paßlack to already contribute to real real estate appraisals during his practical phases. “When I learn something at the university, I often already know how it’s applied in everyday professional life. At the same time, I understand many of the company’s processes much better because I know the theoretical background.” For him, one of the biggest advantages over a traditional degree program is: “After graduation, I’ll know exactly what to expect. I’ll be familiar with the processes, know how companies operate, and will have already gained professional experience.”
Since his internship partner is based in Leipzig and the theoretical phases take place in Bernburg, Paßlack lives in two locations at times. For him, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages: “Of course, you have to be willing to be flexible. But Bernburg offers affordable housing, you get to know different cities, and you quickly bond with your fellow students. I find that enriching.” At the university, he appreciates the personal atmosphere and the close contact with the lecturers.
Above all, the career prospects are what convince him: “Real estate must be appraised in every market situation. This makes the profession fairly crisis-proof.” Added to this is the high demand for qualified young professionals. “Companies are looking for graduates. Many industry partners would love to hire even more students. Anyone who chooses this field has very good prospects.”
His advice to high school students is therefore clear: “If you’re looking for good career prospects, a clearly defined path, and at the same time a crisis-proof degree program where you can also earn good money, then I can definitely recommend this program.”
