The Department of Architecture, Facility Management and Geoinformation sets standards in education because it interlinks the key disciplines of construction. The instructors pursue an artistic and social approach and want Architecture to be understood as a science of the world - a world that we shape and enliven.

We work with our students on contemporary issues - sustainability, climate protection, demographic change and perspectives on our urban coexistence. Training in the use of modern technologies is just as important to us as creative work with traditional materials.

Our bachelor's degree programs offer you an excellent basic education. You can specialize individually in our internationally oriented German- and English-language master's degree programs. Our Department offers you a personal learning environment with excellent supervision.

Design and construction in building construction as well as planning from an urban planning perspective are among the central training objectives in our architecture courses. Real Estate and Construction Management combines traditional civil engineering, economics and information technology. Finally, surveying and geoinformatics provide and evaluate geoinformation - a fundamental key skill for understanding and developing spatial relationships.

In our numerous new campus buildings you will find spacious lecture halls and bright seminar and work rooms. In our professionally equipped workshops - carpentry, metal construction workshop, model making workshop, the milling, laser and 3D printing laboratory and our new Robotic Lab - our staff are always on hand to provide you with help and advice.

Model making workshop/ milling and laser lab

Spatial models are important instruments in the development process of architectural and urban design concepts. They can be used to examine and formally specify spatial relationships. The model is an important communication and presentation medium - active work on it is an important part of the design process. Our model-making workshop is equipped with a computer-controlled flatbed laser that enables non-contact cutting and engraving of the finest structures, for example in wood, cardboard or acrylic glass. A ZÜND tool plotter mills, cuts and engraves digital templates with high precision in a wide variety of materials. STYROCUT hard foam saws enable the uncomplicated construction of mass and working models. Digital models of any complexity can be printed in ABS plastic using a 3D printer. The printer uses the PolyJet process with 0.18 mm fine plastic strands. The material can be further processed in a variety of ways - sawn, sanded or sprayed.

Robotic Lab

The Robotic Lab is equipped with an industrial robot with a turntable. It can be equipped with various tools, such as a hot cutting wire, milling cutter, gripper or extruder. This means that various materials can be processed in a variety of ways. The system offers our students the opportunity to gain knowledge in the field of parametric design and robot-assisted production.

Metal workshop

The metal model workshop enables students to implement their projects using various metalworking technologies. Any type of metallic material can be cut, sawn, milled, drilled, soldered and even welded. Digital data is translated into high-precision models using a 3-axis CNC milling machine.

Sculpture studios

Our sculpture studios offer you the opportunity to work creatively with materials such as clay, plaster, concrete or porcelain. From the lathe to modeling tools to the kiln - we provide you with tools and materials. Take advantage of the qualified support of our professors and tutors during the seminar times and by arrangement.

Wood and plastics workshop

In addition to the basic material wood with its many different forms and applications, the workshop also offers the opportunity to experiment with materials such as cardboard, foam or Plexiglas. The models can be professionally surface-treated in a spray booth. Our staff will provide you with individual, professional instruction in the operation of the machines and equipment and the implementation of your ideas. The workshop certificate, which is a prerequisite for using the workshop, can be taken at the beginning of the semester by arrangement.

Building materials testing lab

In our building materials laboratory, raw materials, binders, aggregates and end products such as steel, plastics, gypsum and concrete can be analysed and characterized. As part of the teaching in the architecture courses, labs are carried out on various building materials to deepen the lecture material. For example, we work with our students to examine aggregates and determine the salt content or hygroscopic moisture content of concrete.

Building services lab

The laboratory has extensive equipment in the field of building technology. For example, tests can be carried out on condensing boiler technology for heating systems as well as investigations into the use of heat pumps. A photovoltaic system and a solar thermal system for water heating and heating support are available for simulations. A test stand records and credits various pump circuits using measurement technology. In the area of sanitary technology, various pre-wall installation options with corresponding pipe routing are clearly illustrated. A test set-up for lighting simulates the influence of different light sources and light point heights as well as degrees of reflection on the illuminance levels to be expected at workplaces. The laboratory enables theoretical knowledge to be applied and tested in practice. In addition, projects can be carried out under defined conditions in cooperation with companies in the Economics sector.

Computer cabinets

State-of-the-art computer technology is available to our students in our computer labs. A variety of different design, calculation and DTP programs are available in several workrooms in different campus buildings. In our teaching, we introduce students to the systems in detail. Small, large format and slide scanners, black and white and color laser printers complete the range. The computer pools can be used outside of seminar times for free project work. Our staff will be happy to assist you with questions about the various application systems and, of course, with the use of peripheral equipment.

Testing and monitoring center (PÜZ)

The testing and inspection body for glass construction at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is recognized by the German Institute for Building Technology Berlin (DIBt). The testing body can issue general building authority test certificates (abP) for fall protection, walk-on and point-supported glazing as well as approvals in individual cases (ZiE). As a monitoring body, external monitoring can be accompanied during the installation of point-supported, rear-ventilated wall claddings made of toughened safety glass and so-called SSG bondings. In addition, the laboratory has extensive testing equipment for the examination of the material and load-bearing behavior of building elements and for investigating the physical behavior of façade components. The PÜZ is part of the building envelope research group (berg), which focuses on façade-related topics such as materials, construction, technology and energy.

Plotting workshop

Our student-run plotting workshop offers numerous printing and scanning services at low prices. From large format printing on various papers to batch scanning and lamination in A4 and A3.

Café am Campus

Our 'Café am Campus' is a place of respite on stressful semester days. Students and staff enjoy the daily breakfast and hot lunch dishes. The menu changes weekly. In addition, we serve perhaps the most delicious cake in town—freshly baked. And all at fair prices.
Various events take place during the lecture period, such as broadcasts of international matches, barbecue evenings, an all-you-can-eat 'PizzaEdition' and the Indian Food Night.

Fitness studio

Our students and employees have their own fitness studio right on campus. Here you can work out in a friendly atmosphere and balance your studies and everyday working life. For a fee of EUR 35 for students and EUR 70 for staff, you can use the gym for an entire semester.
