Interdisciplinary Research Center for Sustainable Food Production
InFonaL is being built on the Campus Köthen at the Hubertus site as a new scientific hub in the field of life sciences. The goal is to develop innovative food production processes that can — and must — adapt to a changing raw material base in a way that conserves resources and reduces CO₂ emissions.
InFonaL is also setting new standards in terms of construction: The new building will be equipped with state-of-the-art sustainable building technology — including geothermal energy, heat pumps, heat recovery, and photovoltaics. The strong synergy between research, technology, and environmental awareness was already evident during the public project presentation in June. The total construction costs for the InFonaL will amount to 36.5 million euros.
