A total of 6818 students are studying at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in the winter semester 2025/26. This year, 2070 first-semester students started their studies at one of the three campuses in Bernburg, Dessau and Köthen - compared to 1716 the previous year. 1419 young people started their studies for the first time. In addition, 289 international students are preparing for their future studies at the Preparatory College (Landesstudienkolleg) in Köthen.
"The increased number of first-semester students and the overall stable number of students clearly show that our study programs continue to impress," says University President Professor Jörg Bagdahn, summing up the current development. "With practical formats, a strong international focus and close cooperation with regional companies, we create attractive conditions for successful studies."
35 percent international students
A total of 2415 international students from more than 110 nations are studying at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. "Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has a long tradition of international orientation. It is reflected not only in the diverse origins of the students, but also in numerous global collaborations that we are continuously developing," says Bagdahn. With the recently opened Anhalt School of Intelligent Engineering and Sustainable Development at the China University of Geosciences in Wuhan (China) and the new branch office in Almaty (Kazakhstan), where the first students began their studies this winter semester, the university is further strengthening its global cooperation. Both initiatives open up additional prospects for students for double degrees, intercultural experiences and joint research activities.
Campus Bernburg
Demand for the bachelor's degree program in Agriculture remains strong at Campus Bernburg. The master's degree program in Agriculture, which has been offered since the summer semester of 2024, is also in high demand. The Ecotrophology and Nutrition Therapy degree programs as well as Business Law, International Business and Online Communications are also popular.
Campus Köthen
In engineering at Campus Köthen, the new Computer Science degree program is proving very good. In addition, it is particularly attractive for many prospective students to take up a dual degree program in the degree programs Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Engineering or Process Engineering . The university has 167 cooperation partners for this purpose.
Campus Dessau
At Campus Dessau, the creative location of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, the demand for studying Architecture remains high. The design degree courses also continue to enjoy great popularity. With their practice-oriented approach and versatile requirement profiles, they offer a very good starting position to be able to react flexibly to future developments in all fields of design.
