What do a female reformer, a media icon and a female entrepreneur have in common? They are all rebels! Women who stood their ground against the odds, broke new ground and shaped our society with their work. The University Library on Campus Köthen invites you to an inspiring evening as part of the nationwide Night of Libraries on April 4, 2025. The festive finissage of the poster exhibition "Rebels - Women change the world" will take place from 18:00.
After a welcoming address by Prof. Dr. Uta Seewald-Heeg, Vice-President for International Affairs and Gender Equality at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Julia Floth will give a lecture entitled "Pioneers in Hiding". This will be followed by a guided tour of the exhibition, during which other outstanding female personalities will be honored. These include journalist and presenter Dunja Hayali, former EKD Council Chairwoman Margot Käßmann, reformer Argula von Grumbach and entrepreneur Beate Uhse. Their stories are characterized by courage, assertiveness and social commitment. They show that change often begins with individuals - with people who dare to question existing structures and stand up for their convictions. The evening will be accompanied by music from @la.liberte.fsa. Afterwards, visitors will have the opportunity to get to know the library and its services better during an exclusive guided tour.
The Night of the Libraries will take place nationwide for the first time on April 4, 2025. Initiated by the German Library Association and its 16 regional associations, the campaign aims to highlight the diversity and relevance of libraries. People are invited to rediscover their libraries - as vibrant places of knowledge, encounters and inspiration.
The event will take place in the University Library on Campus Köthen (Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Library, Red Building 01, 2nd floor, Bernburger Straße 55, 06366 Köthen (Anhalt)). Admission is free, pre-registration is not required. For further information on the event, please contact Svea Weißbach at svea.weissbach@hs-anhalt.de.
