What does it feel like to run a laboratory, design a building or program a robot? On Girls'Day and Boys'Day, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences opens its doors to school pupils. On the nationwide day of action on April 23, 2026, pupils aged 11 and over can discover professions beyond classic role models at the Dessau, Köthen and Bernburg campuses: practical, personal and with plenty of room to try things out.
The university departments have prepared a varied program under the motto "My Future Day". The aim is to open up new perspectives on degree programs and careers to young people, regardless of whether they have been considered "typically male" or "typically female" up to now.
The Girls' Day program is aimed at schoolgirls who want to get to know technical, scientific or engineering fields. At Campus Bernburg, a lot revolves around science, technology and Agriculture. In the "The Secret of the Egg" program, participants explore the question of why an egg is surprisingly stable - and what physics and biology have to do with it. Those who want to know how modern agriculture works can immerse themselves in the "Secrets of Agriculture" and experience how research and practice interact. Girls with a passion for technology can discover how energy is generated at Campus Köthen at "Jules Verne's Dream Comes True - How Water Becomes Electricity" and the "Hands-on Process Engineering" offer shows them how ideas are turned into concrete technical solutions.
Boys' Day invites pupils to get to know occupational fields that are often less associated with male role models in society. In the "smoothie workshop" at Campus Bernburg , students learn what is in food, how it is put together and how it is credited. The "Bread made from spelt and honey from our own bees" baking offer takes you from the raw material to the finished product - including an insight into sustainable cycles.
Anyone interested in research can immerse themselves in the world of microbes and get to know modern laboratory technology at Campus Köthen . The Department of Design at Campus Dessau offers a creative journey of discovery into the world of media and printing. Boys interested in art will find exciting insights into audiovisual production and the creative printing process. In addition, the libraries at the three university campuses in Bernburg, Köthen and Dessau open their doors to interested boys and show them how scientific research works and what training as a media and information services specialist involves.
Lecturers, staff and students will accompany the events and be available to answer questions about studying and future prospects. The program takes place from 10 am to 2 pm. Registration is possible until April 16, 2026. It pays to be quick, as places are limited.
