As part of the celebratory week "100 Years of the Grünes Gebäude (Building 02 - Köthen): Teaching and Research for Future Technologies", Anhalt University of Applied Sciences invites you to a special lecture at the Seniorenkolleg. On Wednesday, 6 May 2026, Prof. Dr. Wolfram Meusel will talk about the eventful history of the Grünes Gebäude (Building 02/027) from 4:15 to 5:15 pm in the Audimax. Registration is not required.
Under the title "From Chemical Technology to Life Sciences Engineering - 100 Years of the Grünes Gebäude (Building 02 - Köthen)", the speaker will trace the development of teaching and research over the course of a century. Using historical images and documents, it becomes clear how the course content at the predecessor institutions of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has changed over time in line with the requirements of Economics and society. The development of the equipment and infrastructure in the Grünes Gebäude (Building 02 - Köthen) is also highlighted: from early teaching and laboratory rooms to modern facilities on a pilot plant scale. It shows how it has been possible to maintain the conditions for study and research at a high technical level.
Prof. Dr. Wolfram Meusel brings a very personal perspective to this. Since 1970, he has witnessed and shaped the development himself as a student, research assistant, university lecturer and Dean. His insights turn the lecture into a lively journey through 100 years of university history in Köthen.

The Seniorenkolleg is open to all senior citizens who enjoy new knowledge and exchanging ideas. Further dates this academic year: student construction projects in Africa will be presented on May 20, as well as a joint excursion to the Wolfen Industrial and Film Museum on June 24.
