The professorship is located at the Department of Electrical, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences’ campus in Köthen.

Tasks

This professorship is responsible for the field of computer engineering. The professorship's special profile is characterized by the subject areas of electronic components, electronic circuits, electronics design, digital technology, and application of programmable logic.

The position holder (m/f/x) represents the professorship in an application-oriented manner in teaching, continuing education, and research. 

The main focus of teaching activities is on study programs with a special connection between computer science and electrical engineering. The professorship requires a high level of commitment to supervising bachelor's and master's theses, student projects and excursions, as well as to the strategic further development of the consecutive degree programs, the expansion and development of career-integrated, continuing-education, and cooperative/dual degree programs. Anhalt University’s application-oriented study approach requires an intensive cooperation with the practice and training partners. 

Applied research will focus on interdisciplinary cooperation with national and international universities and research institutions, with companies and professional associations as well as with other departments at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. Active participation in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects and research and development projects is expected. 

Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has the right to award doctorates in research-intensive disciplines. Contributing to the inter-university doctoral center "Engineering Sciences and Information Technologies" is required.

Active participation in the University’s collaborative academic management structures (akademische Selbstverwaltung) is also one of the responsibilities of the professorship.

We are seeking a distinguished individual in the field of appointment with practical experience in at least one of the following areas (multiple experience is advantageous):

• Proficiency in hardware description languages for field-programmable gate arrays or programmable logic arrays;

• Architecture, design, implementation, or operation of microcontroller systems;

• Design, simulation, and analysis of complex electronic circuits.

The applicant (m/f/x) must hold a university degree in computer science, computer engineering (technical computer science), digital technology, electrical engineering, discrete mathematics, or a comparable discipline, as well as a successfully completed doctoral degree in one of these fields.

The incumbent is expected to teach the subject matter of electronic components, electronic circuits, electronic design, digital technology and programmable logic in English and German in a contemporary manner in bachelor's and master's degree programs at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. The module courses assigned to the professorship are to be further developed using modern didactic methods and techniques. A special focus is to be placed on digital teaching concepts. Current research findings are to be part of the curricula.

Furthermore, the future position holder (m/f/x) should demonstrate expertise in the acquisition and implementation of collaborative and/or externally funded projects with partners from academia and practice, and should have publications to their name in the aforementioned focus areas. 

International networking in the field of expertise of the professorship comes as an advantage.

Knowledge and proven application of the German and English language skills in teaching, research or practice are required; as are intercultural skills.
