Technical Computer Science (Salary Grade W 2)

 

at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Köthen (Anhalt), is to be filled as soon as possible.

 

Tasks

This professorship is responsible for the field of Computer Engineering. The professorship’s distinctive focus is characterized by the subject areas of electronic components, electronic circuits, electronics design, digital technology, and the application of programmable logic.

The incumbent (m/f/d) will represent the professorship in an application-oriented manner in teaching, continuing education, and research. 

The teaching activities focus on degree programs that combine computer science and Electrical Engineering. The professorship requires a high level of commitment to supervising bachelor’s and master’s theses, student projects, and excursions, as well as to the strategic development of consecutive degree programs and the expansion and development of part-time, continuing education, and dual degree programs. The application-oriented programs at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences require close collaboration with industry and training partners. 

In applied research, interdisciplinary collaboration with national and international universities and research institutions, companies, and professional associations, as well as with other departments at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, is encouraged. In addition, active participation in securing and implementing third-party funded projects and research and development initiatives is expected. 

Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has the authority to grant doctoral degrees in research-intensive disciplines. A willingness to actively participate in the inter-university Doctoral Center “Engineering Sciences and Information Technologies” is expected.

Active participation in the committees of academic self-governance is part of the professorship’s responsibilities.

We are seeking a distinguished professional in the relevant field with practical experience in at least one of the following areas (experience in multiple areas is advantageous):

• Working with hardware description languages for field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) or programmable logic arrays (PLAs)

• Architecture, design concept, implementation, or operation of microcontroller systems

• Design concept, simulation, and analysis of complex electronic circuits

The applicant (m/f/d) must have a relevant academic degree in computer science, computer engineering (technical computer science), digital technology, Electrical Engineering, discrete mathematics, or a comparable field, as well as a completed doctorate in one of these areas.

The successful candidate (m/f/d) is expected to teach at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, with a particular focus on the course content of electronic components, electronic circuits, electronics design, Digital technology, and programmable logic in the languages of instruction—English and German—in bachelor’s and master's degree programs. The classes assigned to the professorship are to be further developed using modern didactic methods and teaching techniques—particularly in digital form—and aligned with current research findings.

The future incumbent (m/f/d) should have experience in acquiring and carrying out research, collaboration, and/or externally funded projects with partners from academia and industry, and should be able to demonstrate publications in the aforementioned areas of focus. 

International networking in the professorship’s field of expertise is desirable.

Proficiency in and demonstrated use of the language of instruction (German or English) in teaching, research, or professional practice is required; intercultural competencies are also required.

Appointment to a professorship is initially made on a probationary basis as a civil servant upon fulfillment of the prerequisites.
